Summary : Does not stay extended
I purchased five, three would not stay extended right out of the box. I dropped one and apparently that broke the extension-lock. The only positive is that they do charge my phone and seem to let it communicate with my computer.

Summary : Crappy quality, you get what you pay for
The connector still works but the retractable part died the second day of use. I pulled it to use it and it didn't retract after that. For the price, it's a cheap backup charging cable.

I bought five, thinking they would last a couple of weeks each, but after about 4 months of heavy use and my kids playing with it they are still working. I'm glad I bought 5 because my family and friends stole most of them. No compatibility issues with the 3GS.

This cable's quality is good (enough), I received the item quickly from SF Planet, and the price is as cheap as it gets. I can't ask for anything more.

Granted, the quality of the cable isn't top rate, but for two bucks I can afford to buy a couple spares. I actually just ordered four more of these, kind of like the cheap reading glasses that my parents buy: I'll leave one stuffed in every couch cushion and on every desk so I never have to search for a cable again.
